Instinct,
attention,
and noticing.
I'm an artist based in Essex and my work begins instinctively.
Rather than following a strict plan, I tend to start with a mark, colour or movement and respond to whatever happens next. The process is less about control and more about paying attention.
After stepping away from painting for a period, I found myself returning to something simpler. A way of working that felt more natural again. The paintings began to take on a loose, almost floral quality, though the work isn't really about flowers.
It's more about noticing things again.
Working mainly with acrylic and mixed media, I build up surfaces through layering, texture and repetition. Some marks stay, others disappear completely beneath new decisions.
The work is driven as much by instinct as intention, allowing each painting to develop its own rhythm and direction.

Practice
i.
Slowly
A painting takes the time it takes. Most works pass through three or four lives on the wall before they leave.
ii.
In small numbers
Collections are released a few works at a time, to a small list of people who have asked to see them first.
iii.
To be lived with
Work is placed thoughtfully — in homes, in interiors, in private collections. Not in noise.
